Grocery bags and sacks are made predominantly from unbleached kraft paper in basis weights from about 30 to 60 lb per 3000 sq ft. Since they are designed primarily for one-time use in carrying consumer items from the retail store to the home, there is considerable emphasis on providing, at a minimum cost, a bag that has not only adequate strength but also gives the user a subjective impression of strength.
