European Progress on Calibration and Standardization for Particle Sizing

Source

This paper concerns the standardization and calibration of particle size measuring techniques. The theme of the paper is that the two activities are absolutely commensurate. Written standards must include recommended calibration procedures. The paper surveys the current status of activities in Europe which concern the production of standards and of calibrating materials. The particular problem of calibrating instruments to measure droplet size is discussed as well as the availability of techniques to produce fractions of monosized droplets. The intention of the paper is to contribute some small influence to the thinking of the currently active International Standards Organization (ISO) committees.
