The National Measurement Accreditation Service (NAMAS) is the United Kingdom (UK) national third party accreditation service for both calibration and testing laboratories. Based at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), NAMAS is a government service which encourages industry to make improvements to every aspect of its quality procedures by providing formal traceability for all its measurements to the national primary standards held at NPL. NAMAS provides an essential link between government and industry and plays a leading role in the UK National Measurement System and the Government National Quality Campaign.
