The Use, Testing and Performance of Vibrated Stone Columns in the United Kingdom

Source

Vibrated stone column ground improvement techniques are being used extensively for low rise housing and light industrial units in the United Kingdom. Much of the work is on filled sites. There is a need for simple and inexpensive forms of testing. The advantages and limitations of different types of in situ tests are considered. A brief account is given of field studies to evaluate the effectiveness of vibrated stone columns at two sites with different ground conditions.
