The FATDAC code, an interactive, modular, menu-driven computer program was developed to interface directly with a database for the analysis of fatigue and corrosion fatigue data. The code provides a variety of analysis techniques to solve problems inherent in fatigue databases. The solutions include: (1) an optimization process which minimizes the numerical scatter in da/dN that arises from differentiation of (a,N) data, (2) a feature for combining data from many investigators while taking into account the varying amount of crack extension or life represented by each point, and (3) weighted least squares techniques for fitting standard or user-defined models to (da/dN,ΔK).
