Pressuremeter Standard and Pressuremeter Parameters

Source

Remarks are made in a first part on key issues in the performance of a pressuremeter test. These include the length to diameter ratio for the probes, monocell versus tricell probes, pressure versus volume increment procedure, volume and membrane calibrations, data reduction. In a second part a data base is presented of pressuremeter, cone penetrometer, standard penetration and undrained shear strength tests results. Correlation equations between the various parameters are given and the large scatter is shown. In a third part the magnitude of the pressuremeter modulus is discussed in light of experimental findings and theoretical developments. It is shown that considering the weakness of soils in extension changes the moduli values obtained by the theory of elasticity.
