Conventional Parameters from Pressuremeter Test Data: Review of Existing Methods

Source

The solution for the expansion of an infinitely long cylindrical cavity in a soil mass, based on given constitutive laws, allows to obtain “conventional” soil parameters such as the undrained shear strength or the angle of internal friction based on pressuremeter test results. The pressuremeter test also allows to obtain adequate values of the in-situ horizontal stress in the soil when proper insertion of the probe (little disturbance) is achieved. The existing methods to obtain these parameters are discussed for preboring and selfboring pressuremeter units.
