Principal Stresses Derived from Self-Boring Pressuremeter Tests in Soft Clay

Source

Careful evaluation of the in-situ lateral stress is important for many marine applications. Advanced versions of the self-boring pressuremeter (SBPM) allow assessment of these insitu horizontal stresses in three different directions. Full advantage of the multiple measurements is best achieved by using a micro-computer data acquisition system. Such a system is described in this paper along with the lateral stress results obtained in a series of 32 tests in soft clay.
