    Results from the NIST Round Robin Test of Fissionable Dosimeters in a Reactor Leakage Spectrum

    The National Institute of Standards and Technology has completed a round robin test of 237Np and 238U fissionable dosimeters. The objective of the test was to demonstrate the utility of the Materials Dosimetry Reference Facility for performing neutron metrology testing for applications in fast-neutron dosimetry for reactor pressure vessel surveillance monitoring. For this test, 237Np and 238U fission dosimeters were irradiated to a certified fluence in the Facility, and then distributed to the test participants for determination of the fast-neutron fluence, principally by radioassay of long-lived 137Cs fission product activity. In the present paper are reported the results obtained from this test, showing that the 237Np results are, on the average, within 2.9 % of the certified values, and that the 238U results are within 4.6 %, both based on 137Cs radioassay. These results are well within limits acceptable for neutron surveillance monitoring for determining the fast-neutron exposure in commercial nuclear power reactors.
