    Abstract

    For the use of the accurate element analysis in materials, the energy spectrum of neutrons in the NAA3 hole of the HANARO has been measured by the multi-wire activation method. The experimental results have been compared with the spectrum calculated by the MCNP code. In the MCNP calculation, the hole is the farthest hole from the core, so energy splitting and geometry splitting techniques are used to reduce the statistical errors. The results show that the neutron flux is proportional to 1/E1+β in the energy region from about 1eV to a few hundred keV, where β is equal to 0.12. The comparison of adjusted neutron spectrum and calculated one shows a good agreement, however, the measured fast neutron flux is a little higher than calculated one. The difference is within the uncertainties in the MCNP calculation and the measurement.
