In this chapter, we learn the importance of using the terminology defined by the standards. We learn that the terms defined in the Terminology section of the standard are an integral part of the Phase I ESA and are critical to understanding E1527. We demonstrate the importance of appropriate terminology in the practical application of E1527. We identify additional ASTM sources of information and terminology associated with the Phase I ESA.
