The purpose of this chapter is to give a brief explanation of the documents that define aviation gasoline and aviation gas turbine fuels and the test methods by which their characteristic requirements are measured. While primarily concerned with ASTM standards, the parallel documents of other countries are touched on as well. The necessary fuel additives which may be used in these fuels are listed with discussions on why they are needed and their criticality.
