Special Issue on Testing and Evaluation of Internet of Things for Smart City

    Abstracts are invited for papers to be submitted to ASTM International's Journal of Testing and Evaluation, edited byDr. M. R. Mitchell, Mechanics & Materials, LLC, Flagstaff, AZ, USA.

    The Journal of Testing and Evaluation (JTE) is a multi-disciplinary forum for the applied sciences and engineering that presents new technical information, derived from field and laboratory testing, on the performance, quantitative characterization, and evaluation of materials. Papers present new methods and data along with critical evaluations; report users' experience with test methods and results of interlaboratory testing and analysis; and stimulate new ideas in the fields of testing and evaluation.

    The papers in this special issue will cover topics related to Testing and Evaluation of Internet of Things for Smart City. Suggested topics for papers include, but are not limited to:

    • Testing of Wireless Networks for Smart City
    • Evaluation of Green Communications for Smart City
    • Evaluation of Energy Management Systems and Networks for Smart City
    • Smart Environment Monitoring, Control and Testing
    • Testing of Innovative Applications and Services for Smart City
    • Evaluation of Machine Learning methods applied to Smart City
    • Evaluation of Using Artificial Neural Networks for Smart City
    • Security Testing and Privacy Evaluation for Smart City
    • Evaluation of IoT Based Health care system in a Smart City
    • Evaluation of real time information systems in a smart city
    • Testing of Automatic IoT based Traffic systems

    Review papers are welcome.


    A 250-word preliminary abstract should be submitted to ASTM, attention of Alyssa Conaway by October 15, 2021, via email to aconaway@astm.org. The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work to be discussed, highlighting material that is new, methodology utilized and present sufficient details regarding results. The submissionmust not be of a commercial nature nor can it have been previously published.However, submission of new reviews of previously published technology are also welcome and content should be clearly designated in the abstract. Please be sure to include a title and the names and affiliations of all authors on the abstract submission.


    When uploading the full submissions to the submission site, authors can also submit an appropriate video to accompany their paper. The video should be uploaded as a “supplemental file for review” in the file upload section. If you are submitting a video, please contact Alyssa Conaway for details.


    After the final selection of abstracts has been approved, the ASTM Editorial Office will invite authors to provide their full-length submissions no later than January 15, 2022. Authors will receive individualized submission links foruploads. All submissions will receive a customary and rigorous ASTMJTE peer review process. If accepted for publication after peer review, the corresponding author will receive a .pdf copy of the paper. All published authors will have the opportunity to purchase reprints of their papers at a nominal cost. The papers comprising the special issue will be published together online.
