A New Restraint for High-Load-Transfer Fastener Fatigue Test

CODEN: JTEVAB

Abstract

A test somewhat different from the MIL-STD-1312 test 21 (Shear Joint Fatigue-Constant Amplitude) was explored by using a new type of restraint. Rivet fasteners of two kinds of materials were tested under constant amplitude fatigue loading. The new restraint facilitated the test program and reduced the bending load more efficiently than the current method. Fatigue behavior of aluminum alloy and high-strength steel with single-lap rivet fastener specimens was investigated under different load levels.
