New Classification for Elastomeric Coatings Used in Spray Polyurethane Foam Systems

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: D08.06 | Committee D08 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

1.1 This classification covers liquid-applied elastomeric coatings used as protective coatings for spray polyurethane foam (SPF) roofing systems. 1.2 The purpose of this classification is to provide a consistent framework for testing and comparing any coating with their various chemistries and properties to determine their suitability as a protective coating. It is, therefore, consistent with the current coating material standards used in SPF systems. 1.3 This classification provides a basis for categorizing coatings based on their role in the roof system as component of the overall building envelope design. 1.4 It is not intended as a substitute for any of the more specific material standards that are already in existence. 1.5 This classification does not provide guidance for application. 1.6 Units--SI units are used throughout this standard and the corresponding inch/pound units are in parenthesis. 1.7 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test method portions, Sections 5 and 6. 1.8 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

No classification for this material for use as a roofing system exists currently.
