Revision of C423-17 Standard Test Method for Sound Absorption and Sound Absorption Coefficients by the Reverberation Room Method
Rationale
Elevate NRC definition to be on par with SAA and not as a historical note Shortly after, or during, the time the SAA was introduced the NRC definition was placed into a historical note within the standard. Whereas the SAA is superior to represent the test results for all frequencies measured, it has not come into common usage as desired. The NRC is not defined in other standards and literature and it appears there may be ambiguity developing with the promotion of some manufactures to define NRC and trademark compound phrases using the NRC nomenclature. The desire of the task group is that definition defined in context of this standard on absorption NOT fall to obscurity.
