1.1 These test methods apply to methods to map nutrient in a compound soil matrix using a hyperspectral sensor. They do not apply to single texture of soil, clay, or sand as individual submatrix. 1.2 These test methods cover the measurement of moisture content, pH, organic matter, and soil nutrients (including, but not limited to, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, boron, sulfur, calcium, magnesium, and manganese in soils). The test methods provide alternative methods for determining soil nutrients (macro and micro) and additional characteristics, including pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and organic matter (OM) in soils. 1.3 There are two methods that can be used to perform the test : 1.3.1 Test Method I--The analysis is performed on the sample after the sample has been oven dried. 1.3.2 Test Method II--The analysis is performed on the sample after the spectral signature is normalized for moisture texture and geology. 1.4 Units--The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.5 All observed and calculated values shall conform to the guidelines for significant digits and rounding established in Practice D6026. 1.6 The procedures used to specify how data are collected/ recorded or calculated in these test methods are regarded as the industry standard. In addition, they are representative of the significant digits that generally should be retained. The procedure used do not consider material variation, purpose for obtaining the data, special purpose studies, or any considerations for the users objectives; it is common practice to increase or reduce significant digits of reported data to be commensurate with these considerations. It is beyond the scope of these test methods to consider significant digits used in analysis methods for engineering design. 1.7 This standard does not purport to address all the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
