    Revision of C140 / C140M - 20a Standard Test Methods for Sampling and Testing Concrete Masonry Units and Related Units

    Active Standard: C140 / C140M - 20a

    Developed by Subcommittee: C15.03 | Committee C15 | Contact Staff Manager

    Keywords

    absorption; compressive strength; concrete masonry units; density; equivalent thickness; face shell; moisture content; roof paver; web area; webs; web thickness;;

    Rationale

    Currently, the reporting section in Annex A3 of C140 for segmental retaining wall units requires the averages be determined for the three units tested. The number of units sampled and tested, however, can either be three or five SRW units. Three specimens are sampled and tested when only compressive strength and absorption is being tested, but five are tested when freeze-thaw durability is also tested. This ballot proposed to revise the reporting language to ensure that all specimens are included in the average, regardless of the units sampled and tested. A note is also proposed to explain that all specimens be included in reporting.
