    1. Scope

    This practice applies to the classification, design, manufacture, construction, operation, maintenance, and inspection of Wave Generation Equipment within Surf Venues. Wave Generation Equipment within Surf Venues shall be defined as a system that. For the purposes of this practice, a Surf Venue could include: 1) A facility designed to create ocean like surfable waves 2) A shoaling wave within an enclosed body of water that breaks progressively towards shallow water, ie, a beach. 3) A variety of wave generation mechanisms to create the surfable wave, including but not limited to, dynamic moving objects, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc

    This specialty amusement attraction does not really fit within any current ASTM standard. It is an expanding industry and the developers of the attractions need a standard to assist in permitting processes and operational expectations.
