Revision of E10-18 Standard Test Method for Brinell Hardness of Metallic Materials
Rationale
Correct the terminology section. The terminology section of E10 is not differentiated into Terms and Terms specific to this standard. Some of the terms in the terminology section have no application outside of E10, and therefore belong under the heading Terms specific to this standard. By the Form and Style Manual and the E28 bylaws, any term in the main Terminology section is adopted editorially into E6, the terminology standard, but some of the existing definitions are missing from E6. This work item will partition the current terms into Terms and Terms specific to this standard as appropriate and ensure that the terms are also used in the body of the standard as defined in the terminology section. The intent of this work item is that it will not take effect until a technical change is also made to E10, so that this terminology correction will not create a new version of E10 by itself.
