    Rationale

    The standard currently lists the dimensional tolerances for diameter, wall thickness. straightness, twist, corner radii, etc... It does not provide any guidance as to how to make the measurements needed to prove that the tubing is within the required dimensional tolerances. Adding the Steel Tube Institute document, Methods to Check Dimensional Tolerances on Hollow Structural Sections to Section 2 Referenced Documents with footnote 5 will help to standardize and address those issues. 16.1 and 17.2 are being changed to reference this document as well.
