    Rationale

    This method has not been reapproved since 2012 and therefore requires renewal per ASTM procedures. It has been reviewed, revisions made to be consistent with current practices, and minor edits have been made to improve clarity and consistency. In addition, the title was changed from indicating acute toxicity testing to short-term chronic to accurately reflect the chronic nature of evaluating an embryo development endpoint in this test. This change is consistent with current naming conventions for toxicity test methods.
