New Test Method for Staining Resistance to Fluids and Solids

1. Scope

This test method covers determination of the effect of common household substances on leather finishes and surfaces, resulting in any objectionable alteration in the surface, such as discoloration, change in gloss, blistering, softening, swelling, loss of adhesion, or special phenomena. This method is not applicable to wet blue, but may be used for the evaluation of consumer leathers of different finish types where staining may be a concern.

Rationale
