    Rationale

    The September 2019 ballot for this standard resulted in three negative and one affirmative with comment votes. All the negative votes were found to be persuasive. Proposed revisions are shown in red which address the comments and negatives received during the first ballot, and comments received during the May 6, 2020 G01.10 sub-committee meeting. Major proposed revisions: As this standard test method includes procedures for both field and laboratory testing, the word Field was removed from the title and scope. A Referenced Documents section was added. Revisions were made to the Terminology Section to remove terms defined in G193 (Terminology and Acronyms Relating to Corrosion). Equations 2 and 3 were simplified, and equations 5 and 6 which were duplicates of Equations 2 and 3 were removed and a reference added. A Reagents and Materials section was added. Information was added describing new equipment and procedures available from some manufacturers. Modifications were made to the soil box section and other sections to make this standard consistent with descriptions given in G187 (Standard Test Method for Measurement of Soil Resistivity Using the Two-Electrode Soil Box Method).
