    (What is a Work Item?)

    Developed by Subcommittee: E35.15 | Committee E35 | Contact Staff Manager

    antimicrobial towelettes; cell scraper; membrane filtration; product application; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Quantitative Petri Plate Method (QPM); Salmonella enterica; Staphylococcus aureus; test culture; wiping contaminated surfaces;

    This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement becauseAt the next ballot, I would like to submit E2896-12 for withdrawal. The rationale for the withdrawal is that the proposed changes to the method being considered by the workgroup are substantial enough to warrant the generation of a new standard and allow the current method (E2896) to be withdrawn rather than allowing it to sunset this November. The proposed edits to the current standard include major procedural revisions such as removal of a microbe, additional carrier material, name change of the method (to remove the term Petri plate), increase in control count level, addition of soiled carrier (to make it a 2-step treatment per towelette), and substantial modifications to the neutralization confirmation procedure.
