ASTM WK73042

    Revision of E1981 - 98(2020) Standard Guide for Assessing Thermal Stability of Materials by Methods of Accelerating Rate Calorimetry

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: E1981 - 98(2020)

    Developed by Subcommittee: E27.02 | Committee E27 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK73042

    Keywords

    calorimetry; thermal hazard; thermal stability;;

    Rationale

    Under 9.1.2 it is written that: An instrument calibration is best carried out using an empty, clean, light-weight sample container Based on experience and knowledge of all critical parameters, this is sufficient to ensure correct results. I would like to propose to change the original statement above by the following: 9.1.2 An instrument calibration is best carried out using an empty and clean sample container of the same type (same dimensions, wall thickness, and material of construction) as that intended to be used for the measurements with samples.
