ASTM WK72979

Revision of D2837 - 13e1 Standard Test Method for Obtaining Hydrostatic Design Basis for Thermoplastic Pipe Materials or Pressure Design Basis for Thermoplastic Pipe Products

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D2837 - 21

Developed by Subcommittee: F17.40 | Committee F17 | Contact Staff Manager

The current standard does not allow the use of non-failure data points in excess of 10 000 hours if they decrease the LTHS value. This devalues the work of the testing labs where testing of any specimen to 10 000 hours entails a very substantial investment of time and resources. Allowing the use of these points is both practical and conservative engineering, since lowering LTHS values would result in a safer under-estimate not over-estimate of a products performance.
