ASTM WK72452

    Revision of D7989 - 18 Standard Practice for Demonstrating Equivalent In-Plane Lateral Seismic Performance to Wood-Frame Shear Walls Sheathed with Wood Structural Panels

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D7989 - 18

    Developed by Subcommittee: D07.05 | Committee D07 | Contact Staff Manager

    Keywords

    cyclic loads; earthquake, shear wall; lateral force; seismic; wood structural panel; ;;

    Rationale

    The American Wood Councils Special Design Provisions for Wind and Seismic are currently being updated to include modifications that impact the design of light frame shearwalls with wood structural panels. That includes modifications to the design values for walls that used 10d common sheathing nails, changes to the perforated shearwall design method, and clarification that the benchmark sheathing attachment fasteners are common nails. Objective of this work item is to modify the benchmark database and potentially targets of D7989 to align with the revised AWC design standard.
