    1. Scope

    1.1 This guide identifies and defines the various phases within the methodology of ACE-V. 1.2 It specifies minimum general requirements that shall be adhered to for a methodology to be recognized as ACE-V 1.3 This guide does not define any discipline specific test methods.

    ACE-V is an acronym for the Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation and Verification methodology used by forensic practitioners primarily when conducting feature comparisons. This standard aims to establish a framework and minimum requirements for developing discipline specific standards for the methodology of ACE-V. Forensic practitioners in several disciplines will reference this standard including, but not limited to those in the areas of Physics and Pattern Determination, Digital / Multimedia, Crime Scene/Death Investigation and Chemistry/Instrumental Analysis.

    The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
