ASTM WK72208

New Specification for Safety Requirements for Tricycles

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: F15.22 | Committee F15 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK72208

    1. Scope

1.1 The purpose of this specification is to establish nationally recognized safety requirements for tricycles and provide a basis for common understanding among producers, distributors, and users of these products. 1.2 This specification covers the safety requirements for all tricycles intended for use by children eight years and under. While the addition of a push handle does not by itself change the classification of a product from a tricycle to a stroller (or other juvenile product), there exist in the marketplace some hybrid products (that is, tricycle/stroller combinations that have canopies, reclining seats, and/or restraint systems and so forth) that are intended and marketed to fulfill both functions. Such products may need to meet the requirements of Specification F833 or other applicable standards in addition to those of this standard.
