ASTM WK71977

Revision of C926-20 Standard Specification for Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster

Rationale

ASTM C926 states: A2.1.2 The construction documents shall describe the requirements for flashing. Flashing shall be specified and detailed around the perimeters of openings and at terminations and other interruptions in the vertical plane (see X1.6.1.3). Flashing shall be corrosion-resistant material. Aluminum flashing shall not be used. Flashing supplemented with sealant shall be permitted provided the flashing and sealant are designed in a manner that does not inhibit drainage. A2.1.3 Sealing or caulking of V-grooves, exposed ends, and edges of plaster panels or exterior work to prevent entry of water shall be provided. Despite the reference to sealant, ASTM C926 does not include the appropriate ASTM standard in the referenced documents to address sealant. ASTM C1193 describes the use of a cold liquid-applied sealant for joint sealing applications. This ballot item revises C926 to add ASTM C1193 in Section 2, Referenced Documents.
