ASTM WK71871

    New Guide for Inspection and Maintenance of Articulating Concrete Block Installations

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Developed by Subcommittee: D18.25 | Committee D18 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK71871

    1. Scope

    Provide end users guidance on how to inspect on ACB installations to determine if it was correctly installed, how to inspect an ACB installation during its design lifetime, how often inspections should be conducted, identifying indicators of whether a system has exceeded a performance threshold, determining whether maintenance action is necessary, and types of maintenance action that can be performed.

    Keywords

    Articulating Concrete Block; Maintain;

    Rationale

    Project owners and their agents, typically engineers, often request information about how to determine whether an ACB system has been properly installed, how to monitor whether an installation is performing as expected during its design lifetime, how to tell when maintenance is needed and what kind of maintenance can be performed. This guidance may vary by manufacturer; a standard guide will assemble this occasionally varying guidance into one coherent Standard Guide which may be referenced for any system.

    The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
