    1. Scope

    This practice covers basic procedures that are used to develop and implement instrument performance tests that can be used on online, at-line and laboratory spectroscopic based analyzer systems. These tests are used on analyzers which utilize mid- and near-infrared or Raman spectroscopies. These tests are intended to benchmark instrument performance at the time multivariate models are developed, and to verify that comparable performance is achieved when analyzers are used to apply these models for analysis of new unknown materials.

    Rationale

    Several D02.25 standards currently reference E1866 as a guide to developing instrument performance tests. These tests will be referenced in the new practice for development and validation of multivariate models (WK55094) and are already referenced extensively in the multivariate analyzer practice (D6122). E1866 has not been revised since 1997. E1866 does not include Raman spectroscopy. D02.25 felt that it would be better served to develop its own standard practice based on E1866 and information in the D6122 annex A2
