    Rationale: E1689 was first promulgated in 1995. Since then, our knowledge of chemical properties and the movement of chemicals through various media have greatly improved. The proposed revisions to E1689 focus upon persistent chemicals, including per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
