ASTM WK67359

New Test Method for Bromide Content of Powdered Activated Carbons

    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: D28.04 | Committee D28 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Scope

The standard will provide users with a method for determining the total bromide content of powdered activated carbon. These powdered activated carbons are typically used to remove mercury from flue gas.

    Microwave digestion

The standard can be used by PAC manufacturers and users of brominated activated carbons in the coal-fired power plant field. The standard is needed in order to provide the industry with a standardized way of measuring bromide content, especially when carbon bromination techniques vary and may show different levels of bromination with different analytical techniques.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
