    Rationale

Advances in weaving technology now permit the insertion of multiple picks in the same shed of woven fabrics. Due to possible entanglement, either during the winding of the filling yearns on the packages or during filling insertion, the withdrawal of picks from fabrics produced with such technology does not always permit the separation, easily and readily, of individual yarns that may have been inserted as filling. As a result, separation of individual picks from fabrics woven with multiple insertions may not always be possible. Hence, this test method is limited to fabrics wherein picks withdrawn from fabrics can be clearly separated, both easily and readily, into individual yarn components.
