    Rationale

This ballot proposes to revise C1072 standard (Standard Test Methods for Measurement of Masonry Flexural Bond Strength). On review of this test method it was noted that the testing procedures in Annex A3 do not clearly indicate how to use the spacers on the upper clamping bracket. Additional wording is being added to make it clear that the spacers are used to stabilize the upper clamp when there is not sufficient mortar below the bearing surface.
