ASTM WK65076

Revision of D4806 - 18 Standard Specification for Denatured Fuel Ethanol for Blending with Gasolines for Use as Automotive Spark-Ignition Engine Fuel

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D4806 - 18

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.A0.02 | Committee D02 | Contact Staff Manager

This ballot would harmonize the limit of Solvent Washed Gum limit with other finished fuel specifications by eliminating the decimal and trailing zero. This modification is justified for the following reasons and should not be viewed as a relaxation of the specification because: The precision and bias data from Text Method D381 did not specifically apply to gasoline components such as denatured fuel ethanol because these components were not included in the Interlaboratory Study. Ethanol blended gasolines, not denatured fuel ethanol, were used to develop the precision and bias. Denatured fuel ethanol does not contain solvent washed gums under normal conditions. Solvent washed gum content in denatured fuel ethanol is used as an indication of contamination and thus elimination of one decimal point would not alter the application of this parameter to fit for use, evaluation of denatured fuel ethanol suitable for gasoline blending.
