Revision of D5426 - 12(2017) Standard Practices for Visual Inspection and Grading of Fabrics Used for Inflatable Restraints

    Rationale

There are now OPW curtains emerging in the market from multiple customers that are greater than 3 meters in length, for applications such as vans and large SUVs. The reason for this proposed revision, is that as these OPW curtains have become larger, there is more likelihood that it would contain an anomaly. Of course, if it were a None Allowed condition, then 1.5 x 0 is still 0, or none allowed. By this logic it is suggested any part over 3 meters in length would get a 2x factor. Therefore, in the example of blips where 2 would be allowed on a normal size bag, (less than/equal to 2meters in length) and 3 are allowed for a 2.5 meter long bag, then 4 would now be allowed on a greater than 3 meter long bag.
