    Rationale

    This ballot revises the scope of ASTM C1303 to include rigid closed cell bun stock foam insulation (PIR). PIR is a closed cell foam insulation manufactured with a blowing agent other than air. PIR can be tested using the experimental procedure specified in ASTM C1303. At this time there is no Prescriptive Method to prepare PIR test specimens and measure LTTR using Section 6, as discussed in Note 2 of the Standard. It is, however, possible to measure the LTTR of PIR using the Experimental Method of this Standard using Section 7. In this ballot, PIR has been added back into the scope of the Standard. Note 2 (formerly Note 8) has been added to the scope for clarification. The references to Notes in the Standard will be editorially revised.
