    1. Scope

    This test method establishes a procedure for measuring and reporting test results based on a minimum of four pre-determined drop heights intended to provide suitable plot curves of drop height verse HIC and drop height verse g-max. These curves will be utilized to interpolate the drop heights at HIC equal to 1000, HIC equal to 700, and g-max equal to 180. Where the values of the two target HIC values fall within the curve generated by the predetermined range of drop heights, and the target g-max value falls within the curve generated by this same drop height range no additional test drop heights shall be required. Should any or all the values fall beyond the curve generated by the pre-determined drop height range, either lower or higher, additional drop heights shall be tested. Additional drop heights shall be a continuation of step value used in establishment of the four pre-determined drop heights.

    The information provided through the use of this test method is intended to assist manufacturers, researchers, and users to determine change in performance over a systems life cycle, assessing potential risk and allow consistent comparison of natural turf grass, natural skin (infield), and synthetic turf playing field systems.
