ASTM WK64534

    Revision of D7169 - 16 Standard Test Method for Boiling Point Distribution of Samples with Residues Such as Crude Oils and Atmospheric and Vacuum Residues by High Temperature Gas Chromatography

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D7169 - 19

    Developed by Subcommittee: D02.04.0H | Committee D02 | Contact Staff Manager

    Keywords

    boiling point distribution; crude oils; cut point intervals; distillation residues; lubricants; residues; simulated distillation;;

    Rationale

    D7169 utilizes a reference material as a quality control standard. This material is also used to determine the recovery of materials analyzed by the method that show incomplete elution from the column. The present material is named 5010 Reference Oil. This material has been in use since approximately 2005 and at present it is available in limited supply since the material is nearly exhausted A new material, a gravimetric blend has been produced , tested, and the Boiling Point (BP) values have been determined and submitted to statistical analysis. This work item is necessary to introduce the BP values obtained in ILS 1234 as well as the statistical uncertainty data into the method.
