    1. Scope

    This Standard Practice is to provide recommendations for a Laboratory designed to support entities within the Cannabis industry. It will present best Lab Practices, recommended certifications, recommended types of analyses typically required in the Cannabis industry, and the Quality functions associated with Laboratory supporting the Cannabis industry. These recommendations establish a basis for oversight for entities performing analysis of marijuana and hemp products. Developed as a complement to existing good laboratory practices, these recommendations focus on the personnel, security, sample handling and disposal, and data management and reporting activities that may be unique to laboratories analyzing cannabis samples. This Standard Practice will cover analytical testing of cannabis, cannabis derived products, hemp, or hemp-derived products. This Standard practice will recommend the types of testing the Cannabis industry requires. This Standard Practice will provide strategies for compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and Quality applications.

This Practice represents a harmonization from the FOCUS and APHA standards. Users of this standard will be operators of laboratories supporting analyses of Cannabis containing products.
