Revision of E2149 - 13a Standard Test Method for Determining the Antimicrobial Activity of Antimicrobial Agents Under Dynamic Contact Conditions

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Rationale

This test method was originally written in 2000 as a means of measuring the antimicrobial activity of a textile treated with a non-leaching antimicrobial agent. Over the years, the method was altered to be able to measure the activity of many different types of antimicrobial agents. The original precision and bias statement was determined for a 1 hour contact time. The current method allows many different contact times and does not account for the need for added nutrients if extending the contact time from the original protocol. This test method will be re-written to remove many variables introduced in later editions so that it more closely reflects the methodology used to generate the precision and bias statement.
