ASTM WK61925

    Revision of A193 / A193M - 17 Standard Specification for Alloy-Steel and Stainless Steel Bolting for High Temperature or High Pressure Service and Other Special Purpose Applications

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: A193 / A193M - 17

    Developed by Subcommittee: A01.22 | Committee A01 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK61925

    Keywords

    alloy steel bars; alloy steel bolting; bolting components; bolting materials; hardness; heat treatment; stainless steel bolting;;

    Rationale

    It was found that stress relieving B7M bolting, within 50F of the original tempering temperature, more effectively reduces measurable work hardening in the deformed zone of roll threaded product than stress relieving at the minimum tempering temperature. Data supporting this statement was presented at the 11/17 ASTM conference. This revision will be to update the B7M ost machining stress relief requirements to require that the stress relief take place within 50F of the original tempering temperature
