ASTM WK61176

    Revision of D3338 / D3338M - 09(2014)e2 Standard Test Method for Estimation of Net Heat of Combustion of Aviation Fuels

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D3338 / D3338M - 09(2014)e2

    Developed by Subcommittee: D02.05 | Committee D02 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK61176

    Keywords

    aviation fuel; gross heat of combustion; heat energy; heat of combustion; heating tests; net heat of combustion;;

    Rationale

    D3338 is used extensively throughout the auto industry to determine NHV of certification gasolines. Tier III certification fuels contain 10% ethanol. D3338 is inaccurate for oxygenated fuels (they are outside of scope). An additional calculation, or a new standard, are needed for the determination of NHV of oxygenated fuels.
