ASTM WK61106

    Revision of A608 / A608M - 14 Standard Specification for Centrifugally Cast Iron-Chromium-Nickel High-Alloy Tubing for Pressure Application at High Temperatures

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: A608 / A608M - 14(2018)

    Developed by Subcommittee: A01.18 | Committee A01 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK61106

    Keywords

    alloy; centrifugal casting; high temperatures; pressure containing parts; steel tube; temperature service applications;

    Rationale

    This work item has three parts: 1. High and low carbon variations of HPNb are used within the petrochemical industry. A608 only contains the high carbon version. The current name for HPNb does not contain a reference to the carbon level. This work item revises HPNb to HP40Nb and HPNbS to HP40NbS in preparation for another work item that will add a low carbon version of HPNb. 2. This work item adds a footnote to the Chemical Requirements table stating that Cb and Nb refer to the same element in the periodic table. 3. With the exception of HN40, the alloys shown in this specification reference the ACI name and the UNS numbers. This work item adds the UNS number for HN40.
