    1. Scope

    There is a need to establish the behavior and quantify biodegradability of compostable plastics in residential composting operations. Residential encompasses backyard and home composting. This Standard will develop the methodology for defining test environments that are representative of backyard and home.

    Because industry is producing compostable plastics intended for residential composting systems, there is need for a representative practice for these products to be tested in
