    (What is a Work Item?)

Developed by Subcommittee: F08.64 | Committee F08 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK56644

    1. Scope

1.1 This guide covers techniques that are appropriate for the construction of native-soil rootzones for athletic fields. This guide is also applicable to soils which are not native to the site but are natural (non-sand) imported soils. This guide provides guidance for the selection of soil materials, amendments, and methods for use in constructing these types of athletic field rootzones. Soils having a texture of Sandy Loam or coarser should be utilized for soil-based rootzone construction. Soils which are finer textured may be employed for rootzone construction but should be sand-modified. Sand-modified rootzone constructions are not addressed by this standard.

    Keywords

turf soil sand turfgrass slope drainage rootzone

    Rationale

No standards (and few guidance publications) are found in the industry for soil-based athletic fields. We hope that this standard provides guidance for constructing field with soil/native-soil type constructions.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
