    1. Scope

    1.1 This test method covers testing of screw fastening for: 1.1.1 Steel drill screws for use in fastening gypsum panel products to nonstructural and structural steel framing members in interior construction assemblies; 1.1.2 Steel drill screws for use in fastening gypsum panel products to steel members from 0.033 to 0.112 in. (0.84 to 2.84 mm) in thickness; 1.1.3 Steel self-piercing tapping screws for use in fastening gypsum panel products to cold-formed steel studs less than 0.033 in. (0.84 mm) in thickness and wood members and for fastening gypsum panel products to gypsum board; and 1.1.4 Type W screws shall be for use in fastening gypsum panel products to wood members. 1.2 Other than fastening capabilities, other properties of gypsum panels, framing members, and screws are beyond the scope of this test method. Refer to Specifications C645, C954, C955, C1002, or C1396 as appropriate. 1.3 Units--The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
